Dr. Koichi Wada from Kyowa Pharma Chemical Co., LTD gave a presentation about the results of joint research on the discovery of a catalyst for the manufacture of pharmaceuticals using soybean powder as the main raw material, in collaboration with Toyama Prefectural University at the 2022 JSPC Summer Symposium.

with Kyowa Pharma Chemical Co., LTD (Takaoka city, Toyama) succeeded in
developing an eco-friendly plant-derived catalyst that can be used as a
reaction accelerator in the manufacturing process of pharmaceuticals.

Toyama Pharmaceutical Valley Development Consortium
'Toyama Pharmaceutical Valley Development Consortium' was established in
June of 2018, aiming toward the concept of 'Toyama, Capital of Pharmaceutics,'
led by industry-academic-government collaboration. This consortium aims
to promote pharmaceutic R&D and human resource development at the universities
in Toyama Prefecture and further growth of Toyama's core industry, the
pharmaceutical industry. This initiative was adopted as one of the 'Regional
Universities and Local Economies Vitalization Project Programs' by the
central government in October 2018. This consortium promotes pharmaceutical
R&D and cultivation of human resources through industry-academic-government
collaboration in Toyama Prefecture. Also, through university reform, including
the invitation of leading researchers from inside and outside Japan, this
consortium will work on further promotion of the local pharmaceutical industry
and development of human resources in order to support the 'Toyama, Capital
of Pharmaceutics' concept.
