酵素化学工学研究室
微生物や酵素を用いる物質転換法 は「グリーンケミストリー」の 中でも最も重要な手法 の一つです。酵素反応は温和な条件下に行われ、環境に優しく省エネルギーに役立ちます。研究室では酵素を生産する微生物の分離、酵素化学的諸性質の解明、遺伝子組換えによる酵素の大量発現、高次構造の解析、進化分子工学による酵素の改変およびファインチューニング、ならびに基質の化学合成等、酵素を有用物質の工業的合成プロセスに組み入れるための研究を行っています。また、平成20年度より「ほくりく健康創造クラスター」プロジェクト」に参加しています。
当研究室のもう一つの特徴は、外国人研究員・学生を多数受入れている、その国際性にあります。自然と英会話ができるようになります。また、英語の修士論文の作成に全員が取組んでおり、最初英語が苦手な学生も大変立派な論文を書き上げ、社会で大活躍しています。このように英語に慣れておくと、就職に有利であるばなりでなく、その後楽しいことばかりです。
In the Laboratory of "Enzyme Chemistry", novel enzymes catalyzing new reactions are extensively screened. Not only the exploring studies, but also intensive basic studies are carried out to understand the enzymological characteristics by the use of in house synthesized compounds. The structure of the enzymes are analyzed by the techniques in molecular cloning, nucleotide and protein sequencing, and X-ray crystallography with collaborations. Random and designed mutagenesis of the genes are routinely done to fine-tune or evolve the enzyme activity toward the industrial uses of the enzymes.
